They do not give access to all the programmes.
The Bordeaux Preparatory Cycle offers holders of a scientific Baccalaureate a specific course giving them access to all the programmes of the IPB schools and also to two other schools in Aquitaine : the ESTIA in Bidart and the ENSGTI in Pau.
The students are registered with the Bachelors Degree Department of the University of Bordeaux 1.
Admission
The selection of the candidates is based upon their school records and more specifically on the marks they obtained in their last two years of schooling. You can only apply for admission to the CPBx the year you pass your Baccalaureate.

You can apply for several IPB schools at once.

The Polytechnic Preparatory Cycle is common to all 4 INP schools of France (Bordeaux, Grenoble, Nancy and Toulouse).
It gives access to 24 engineering schools including the IPB schools.
Admission
Only students who have passed the baccalaureate S, STI or STL or an equivalent diploma for foreign students (without re-sits) can apply.
The application for the CPP is only possible the year the candidate passed the baccalaureate.
The candidates are selected on their school records and more specifically on the marks they obtained in their last two years of schooling and after an individual interview.
2 years of preparation = 4 semesters

• Semester 4: themed courses
Engineering science education covers a broad spectrum. It has been developed to give students a general scientific and technical culture
Assessment and admission panel in the schools:
In the CPP, evaluation is entirely based upon continuous assessment. At the end of the first year, a panel composed of the directors of the CPP, professors directors of the schools decide whether the student is admitted into second year or not, according to their results.
Admissions to the engineering schools are pronounced by a jury composed of the school directors. This jury draws up a single ranking of the CPP students. Admission to the schools is based on merit and seeks to satisfy the student's preferences.

The Gay-Lussac Federation Preparatory Cycle gives access to the Chemistry-Physics programme of the ENSCBP.
This preparatory cycle is organised in the chemistry schools of Rennes, Lille or Clermont-Ferrand.

Le Cycle Préparatoire de Bordeaux offre aux bacheliers scientifiques un cursus spécifique leur permettant l'accès à toutes les spécialités des écoles de l'IPB ainsi qu'à 3 autres écoles d'Aquitaine : l'ENITA de Bordeaux, l'ESTIA de Bidart et l'ENSGTI de Pau.
Les élèves sont inscrits au département licence de l'université Bordeaux 1.
La sélection des candidats se fait sur dossier scolaire à partir de leurs notes de 1ère et de terminale S. La candidature au CPBx n'est possible que l'année d'obtention du baccalauréat.

Le Cycle Préparatoire de la Fédération Gay Lussac donne accès à la spécialité Chimie-physique de l'ENSCBP.
Ce cycle préparatoire est effectué dans les écoles de Chimie de Rennes, Lille ou Clermont-Ferrand.
